Menthol
The Ice Effect & Freshness Turbo

What is Menthol? Menthol is the main component of the essential oils of peppermint and other mint varieties. It is known for its sharp, fresh scent and especially for its intense "cold effect" on the skin. It does not actually cool the skin down physically, but specifically stimulates the cold receptors of our nerve cells – a brilliant trick of nature.
❄ Cooling & Invigoration
This cold stimulus makes menthol the perfect helper for various complaints.
- Heavy Legs: In balms or gels, it provides immediate relief and a feeling of lightness for tired feet and legs.
- Sports & Muscles: The perceived cold can help loosen muscle tension and is often felt as soothing after sports.
- Circulation: The cold stimulus secondarily promotes microcirculation in the skin.
🩹 Itching & Airways
The effect of menthol goes beyond mere freshness.
Further areas of application:
- Anti-Itch: The strong cooling effect "drowns out" itching signals (e.g., from insect bites) and provides quick relief.
- Breathe Freely: The characteristic scent is traditionally used to support the feeling of a clear nose and freed airways.
⚠ What you should watch out for
Caution with sensitivity: Menthol is very potent. Do not apply to open wounds or mucous membranes and avoid contact with the eyes! For very sensitive skin or rosacea, the circulation-boosting effect may be too intense. Menthol is unsuitable for infants and small children.
